Kaleidoscope Quilt

This quilt (http://karengriskaquilts.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/ferris-wheel-fan-quilt-and-pattern.html) by Karen Griska popped up in my blog feed and it's unsurprising that I found it too tempting to resist. You'll notice that she calls it a Ferris Wheel or a Fan Quilt, buti just can't move beyond the fact that it looks so much like a kaleidoscope I haven't been able to refer to it any other way since.

I immediately launched into a frenzy of buying and sewing 2 inch scraps. It came together really quickly because I just enjoyed whipping it up so much.

I've decide to go the whole hog and make it king size for our bed. The blocks will cover the top of the bed and I'll make a piano key border for the drape with all the left over fabric.

I'm very keen to get this finished to progress should continue to be quick. Stay posted!

Red and White Star Block Quilt

I started this quilt aaaaaages ago and then put it down because I couldn't decide on the border. I bought the fabric when Milly and I visited a devine fabric shop in Perth called Calico & Ivy. This is shabby French inspired material and I quickly decided to sew it up with Milly's star block tutorial. This can be found here: http://thetinwhistle.blogspot.com.au/2013/07/tutorial-fq-star-block.html

I had a lot of fun messing around and just recently dragged it back out, decided on a border and finished the top. I have used left over scraps to piece a section of the back and bought some fabric in Perth last week to finish the rest of the back.

Now it needs to head to the quilters to be finished off.

It's pants time!

It's been a while since I've blogged in here. I've been working on stuff, just not finishing much.

School Holidays are drawing to a close and we've been in Perth for a week.

Whilst I was there I made William a couple of pairs of pants with fabric he chose.

My favorites:

RAINBOW PANTS!

I also made him a pair of pirate pants with a matching top.

The repeat on the fabric was a little short so I used some red and white stripe fabric that Milly had to add an extended cuff.

I cut an extra ship from the scraps and appliquéd it onto a plain red tee. I also added a little octopus on the back.

We've made a second pair of pirate pants for Williams buddy, James.
