Swoon Little Houses Cushion

So I got on a roll yesterday and finished off my swoon topper. I decided to turn it into a cushion and see if I can get a whole range of bright and colourful homemade cushions!

I chose a red corduroy for the back with a button closure. This gave me a chance to use the button holer on my machine and it worked a treat!

Then I decided to use one of the decorative stitches my machine has and add some red detailing to the sun on the front.

Merry Christmas!

How good to you was Santa this Christmas? I must have been REALLY well behaved!

My gift to myself ;) was a cracker of a new sewing machine. Mine has disappointed me ever since I got it a year ago so when it broke again, I took the bull by the horns and snaffled a new one.

My darling husband was guided by a quilty neighbour and bought me a design wall. It is awesome as I don't have any wall space and this is double sided. It's by Brindabella Quilting Co and is very lightweight but sturdy. This one is the large and really, although there is a medium available I'm sure it would be too small for most projects.

In quilting efforts I participated in my first doll quilt swap. I think I might have blogged my contribution, but I also made a second swoon quilt for myself. This one below is the donated one. I wasn't super happy with the intensity of the cloud fabric but didn't have time to wait for more to arrive.

I put the second one that was to keep aside while I found bette cloud fabric and I finished up the topper last night. It still needs quilting but I think it's cute.

The quilt I received in the swap couldn't have been more appropriate if it had been picked on purpose! I got a little chook wall hanging. I love it!

Nana's Christmas Quilt

I made this little lap quilt for my Nana for Christmas. I'm hoping she likes it. The quilt is called Garden Trellis by Lauren & Jessi Jung. Fittingly enough the fabric is also by Lauren & Jessi Jung and is called Birds and Berries.

Spring Doll Quilt Swap

For the first time I have joined a quilt swap. Everyone makes a quilt (doll sized) and sends it off and receives one back. The theme for this swap was spring.

I decided to have a go at a swoon quilt I had seen that had been turned into a bit of a vista.

I had a lot of fun choose suitable building fabrics and appliquéing on little details.

I also bought a little trinket to add to all of my quilts. It says 'hand made'.

I like this quilt so much I am making myself one too. I have however ordered different fabric for the sky so I have had to put it away until that arrives.

Milly visits

Milly needed a bit of a break after her mammoth effort at the school fete so she left her kids behind and came down for a "all about me" sewing trip. We chained ourselves to our machines and to work.

These are our accomplishments. Mine on the left, Milly on the right.

I did the binding on the big squares quilt and created a mini quilt for a spring quilt swap. I also stared another quilt for my Nana for Christmas and started another small project. These will be blogged separately.

Milly finished her fat quarter star quilt, two doll quilts for the swap and started on a baby quilt.

We managed to tear ourselves away long enough to produce a few paddock meals for the harvesting team.

By the end of the 3 days we had so much fabric on the floor even baby Charlie had something to amuse himself with.

Squares and Circles

I posted a sneak peek of this quilt back in July, but haven't been back to blog it since.

Milly came down for a sewing bender with no kids last week so we really gave the sewing machines a workout!

One of the things I finished off was the squares quilt. I absolutely love this and had it quilted in circles with verigated rainbow thread.
