Oriental Skirt

Ok I think I'm done with skirts for a while. I do have one more to make but as it needs a layer cake sewed up first it's not going to be featuring any time soon.

I just love the jade green of this skirt. It's fully lined and I hope I get good wear out of it.

Monsters Inc!

No peeking Karen!!!

My neighbor Kristy and I have been making a monster quilt for our friend Karens little boy. It's his birthday at the end of the month so we need to get a wriggle on as we've only just finished the top.

We've had great fun coming up with the various ministers and their accessories. These are some of our favorites:

William also had a favourite and kept telling me that the awesome monster was for him and we couldn't put it on the quilt. As it was already sewn in I told him I'd make him another one.

However when I went to I do it I decided to make him 3D instead. William. Loved him and calls him 'Awesome Monster'!

Salt Air by Cosmo Cricket.

I love love love this quilt. I find it so calm and restful. The fabric is Salt Air by Cosmo Cricket and these were two charm packs that I teamed with grey linen style fabric and a creamy white edging.

The backing is a complimentary dandelion print.

Paper Pieced String Quilt

This quilt has been a long time getting finished. It was my first go at simple paper piecing and it certainly does make for neat edges.

I backed and bound this in a black and white comic book fabric.

Cow Pants & Cord Skirt

My son needed a set of brown clothes to play a Minotaur at the school assembly. I couldn't find anything dark brown so decided to buy some cotton fabric and make a simple of pants and top.

Once I got to Spotlight I clapped eyes on some brown fur fabric and thought what the heck. So I got fur off the pants and shiny stretch for the top. The mask is being made at school.

After that I got pattern fever and dug out some corduroy I bought ages ago to make a skirt. It's a very basic A line pattern that I have used before.

I had a little bit leftover so used it to make a pair of toddler pants for a friends little girl.

----------------------------------------

So I need to update this entry with a post assembly photo.

My little Minotaur was a big hit and he even got to keep the mask his teacher made for him.

Map Room

My eldest son turned 12 today. I decided to celebrate with a surprise room makeover. My very kind neighbour volunteered to help.

I had been given a whole pile of old Western Power survey maps of WA and put them to good use.

Before:

During:

After:

Turns out everyone was right when they said wall papering is a shitty project! So glad the maps were small individual ones and not long strips of wall paper.
