Kate's Too Small Romper

I made a romper for young Miss Kate from some fabric her Aunt had given me.

Unfortunately the pattern sizing was a tad small and Kate had to be squeezed into it by her Mum.

Determined not to waste the gifted fabric I brought it home and made some alterations.

First I cut the whole romper in half and inserted an extra panel around the waist. To hide the seams I added two little stripes of contrasting fabric.

I then added an extra couple of inches to the neck elastic and released the elastic around the legs.

Finally I enlarged the arm holes. It really was too tight every which way!

I didn't get a photo of Kate wearing it whilst it was too small for her as her extremities were turning blue from lack of blood flow... But here is a before and after photo.

Pirate Coat

So I got it into my head to make William a coat. I am pretty impressed with how it turned out. It has a hood, inset pockets, belt, buttons and is fully lined.

I managed to muddle my way through the instructions all by myself and William is pretty chuffed with it.
