Lone Star

I decided to have a crack at a lone star quilt. This was really extending my quilting capabilities to the max but it looked so pretty.

I tried one, but didn't pin or sew well enough. I decided to scrap it and start again.




Second time round I made it smaller and went a lot more carefully.

Cluck Cluck Sew do a Lone Star tutorial, but I decided to use this one and really test my skills by trying Y seams for the first time:

The green back ground hasn't come up very well in this photo because its night time. Its a much nicer apple green than shown here.

It's lucky I've decided to make it a cushion because it doesn't lie very flat! I'm also thinking about adding a row of prairie points round the outside.

Milly's Lightening Quilt

My sister committed herself to making a quilt for each of her 6 nephews on their 10th birthday. Angus's was a bit late but it was worth waiting for this beauty.


Milly did a lightening pattern because of Angus's love of wild weather. She also made a matching pillowcase with left over scraps.





Both Angus and Squish think its pretty fabbo!

Bec's Quilt

My friend, Karen, and I joined forces to sew a quilt for a little girl we know who was in a bad car accident recently.

We backed the pinwheels with minky so that she would have something soft to snuggle up with.

Pants, pants, pants!

A few of the Mums at playgroup have been admiring Williams pants lately so we had a bit of a sewing bee so everyone could make some.

I won't post everyone else's here's without sir permission, but these are the ones I made for William. I bought the fabric a while ago and then it was too short so I had to add the contrasting cuff. I think it makes the pants actually.








William wore these 'pants' all day. He insisted they were his, but they are actually size 10 shorts belonging to one of his brothers. Dig it Will.I.Am.

My Dear Friend

I blogged about this quilt last time saying I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it. I know now. A good friend of mine lost one of her children in a tragic accident recently. He was one of my sons best friends and the loveliest boy you would have ever hoped to meet.


My friend Karen and I immediately started working on a quilt for his younger sister who was injured in the accident and whilst I was binding this one I realised it would be lovely to gift it to his Mum as well.


I hope she likes it. She is a beautiful woman and a dear friend. Our small community has been poleaxed by this event, but it has also been incredible to see how we have come together to do what ever we can for this family.
