Pencil Case Madness

The Family is in Perth as the boys had a karate grading. Whilst perusing Milly's latest creations I was very taken with some pencil cases she has made for her school fete.

They are lined and super easy so I decided to make one for each of the boys (except William CPA he's not at school).

First up was Bugs and Spots for Sam.

Next came Monsters and Green Stripes for Henry.

The monsters were supposed to be on the outside but I sewed it the wrong way round and decided to leave it rather than unpick it.

Last up was Angus who got a slightly weird combo of Fish and Insects.

I had to raid Milly's stash for some lining and these colours complimented nicely so I ignored the fact that this print is probably a little young for Angus and went with what worked well!

The fishes on the outside look great with the red zipper.

cases can be found at www.skiptommylou.org - January 2009

Cartoon Pants

William (and I) love these pants! It's a little cartoon but I can't tell you what it is about as it is all in Spanish!

Sadly the munchkin has had a growth spurt and I had to let these out to a tiny hem. Even now he's not going to get long out of them.

Ginkgo Garden Quilt

I started this quilt way back in Feb I think it was. It's been at the quilters for weeks as I just didn't get down to Albany to pick it up.

I love the vibrancy of this quilt. It has a heavy gold brocade backing and the emerald green is just gorgeous.

This quilting design is called ginkgo garden and one of the fabrics is a ginkgo pattern so it seemed an apt name for it.

Rocket Pants

So much blogging to do, but so little time. I'm having another rush on pants for William because there are so many cute fabrics out there. I'll leave it at the rocket ones for now. More to come later...

Fire Pit

Richard and I had half a day to ourselves this afternoon and felt in the mood for a project. I showed him my 'Outdoors' board on Pinterest and told him to choose a project he felt like tackling. Hence we made a fire pit!

First we used the tractor to dig a bit of a hole as our recycled water trough was a bit high.

Then we Popped the trough in the hole and back filled.

Richard used the jack hammer to punch a few air holes thhrough at ground level so the fire will draw.
Next we dragged up a big log for a seat.

Log was a bit long so it got chainsawed in half and angled.

Kids filled the tractor bucket with rocks which I delivered on site.

We found a bendy log for the other side and a little one for the small people. All that's left is to concrete a rock wall round the outside to hide the ugliness. This is something I can work away at on my own.

The pets were very interested!

A picnic blanket.

FINALLY finished the picnic blanket. Sadly I have the perfect bag for it so it can be stowed in the boot of my car, but the zipper broke on the bag. I'll pick up another tomorrow, replace it and move the blanket to its new home.

I really love it and am so glad I get to keep it. I'll probably be pulling it out to use at every opportunity just to show it off!

Disapearing 9 Patch

I finished the disapearing 9 patch quilt the other day, just in time to gift it to a friend. My friend has twins who turned 2 today so I teamed this quilt up with the Oh Happy Day one and gave one to each twin.

I wasn't so lazy this time and fabric lined the quilting this time. Needless to say it gave a much better result.

The back was a mix of complimentary fabrics pieced together, which is actually the first time I have done a backing like this. Generally I prefer a solid back.

Pinwheels and Prairie Points.

I adore the prairie points on this quilt. Really simple to do, look great and add a pretty touch.
