Its All About The Food...

I'm still plugging away at the sewing, but whilst I don't have much to show you except this hexagon quilt I've started working on

I do have some tantalizing  delectable delights to tease your taste buds with. A visual feast for the eyes, yada yada yada.
I have been working on a cookbook for our local Primary School as a fundraiser. I've been traversing the countryside with my camera photographing super yummy looking cakes, slices, puddings and cookies.
So I thought I'd tease you all.

Double Slice Layer Cake

Ive finally finished and photographed the Double Slice Layer Cake quilt that I started when Milly was here, visit before last, back in January. We made the same quilt with different fabrics. I used Coquette by Moda which is lovely fabric.

Anyway, I picked it up from the quilters a few weeks ago then I bound it and just this morning got around to photographing it. It is a lovely big quilt that I will keep on the couch over winter to snuggle under. I've taken the red strip quilt off the couch to make room for this one and I've hung it on the wall.

As for the Double Slice Layer Cake quilt....

Star Quilt

On the last morning of her visit Milly showed me how to piece together a wonky star block and I've been working on them ever since.

This morning I had the idea to make it up to a single bed sized quilt and donate it to be auctioned at our schools Art Exhibition later this year. Our school is very small and only has 48 students from kindy through to yr 7. The art exhibition is our major fundraiser for the year. Hopefully someone will want to buy it for their kid!

Easter Sewing

My sister and her kids came down for their annual Easter visit. Milly and I had lots of sewing planned.

First cab off the rank was a skirt I had in mind. I bought the pattern and fabric when in Perth last and was relying on instruction from Milly to sew it up.

They arrived Friday afternoon and the cousins were delighted to see each other. Saturday morning Milly brought to my attention that Spotlight had a 40% off sale and perhaps an emergency dash was required. Richard was appalled and informed us we'd spend more on petrol than we would save at Spotlight. I don't think he realised how much we intended to buy to get a decent saving!

So we farmed out the kids, Sam and Matilda went trucking with Richard, Elizabeth and Angus went to Mums tasked with looking after William and Henry and George came with us.

We had a lovely old time and got some fabulous fabrics. I picked several just to boost my stash, some binding for the pastel quilt and some more skirt fabric.

The only down side to the trip was the loss of 6 hours sewing time! We got home and immediately set to rectifying the situation.

We bought this super cute people fabric and a contrasting red polka dot to make a small ironing pad each. We both own a small iron that we use for piecing work so we don't have to get up and trek to the laundry all the time.

These we the skirts we both made from a very simple pattern. Mine is the fine paisley cord at the rear and Milly's is the stripe one at the front.

My niece also joined us on the sewing bender and made herself several mini skirts.

This is the other skirt I made myself. The fabric was beautiful but the skirt didn't quite come off how I imagined.
